Making the decision to transition a loved one from home to assisted living, especially memory care, is never easy. The transition can be filled with emotions and uncertainty, with many questions weighing on the minds of family members. What kind of care will my loved one receive? Is this the right decision? Should we keep them at home? These are just a few of the tough questions families often face when considering this change.

If you’re in the process of making this decision and feeling hesitant, we invite you to read a letter shared with us by a family member of one of our residents. With their permission, we hope it provides insight and comfort to others who may be facing the same challenges.

It was very hard for my brothers and me to move my Dad, James C., from his home to a new place, but you and your staff made the transition easier. Thank you for the care that our Dad has received.

I want to thank Rhonda Sharp and Greg Joynor, NP, for not giving up on helping Dad get settled. He is doing so much better now that he is sleeping. I would love to mention everyone by name, but I’m afraid I’ll miss someone. That said, the Memory Care Staff is awesome! It’s very evident that they care about the residents. I know the job is hard, and there are tough days, but they have always been patient and kind with Dad. Even the kitchen staff come over and speak to Dad. Dad tells me often that everyone is so good to him. The last time I was there, he said, “There’s no foolishness, they work hard all the time.” That says a lot coming from my Dad, who has worked hard all his life.

I tell the staff often how much I appreciate them, and I do. But I wanted to officially send a note to you so you know how much my family appreciates the Rosewood staff. I’m so thankful that God has provided a wonderful place for my Dad. It was a hard transition for me, but I am thankful that Dad is getting wonderful care.

Thank you,
Pamela S.
