Why Memory Care with the Rosewood
Retirement Village of Chattanooga?
Pathways Intentional Memory Care is our program at Rosewood, and through it we focus on creating a positive environment and community for memory care residents. Our program is built on non-drug therapies such as pet and music therapy, as well as iN2L– an engagement technology that incorporates user-friendly software and interactive games, and we work to help preserve memory skills through intentional activities. Though there is no known cure for dementia or Alzheimer’s at this time, we can work to manage the symptoms through these techniques and create a happy, comfortable, and safe environment for our Memory Care residents in the process.
Remaining active brings joy and excitement into the lives of our residents. Curating programs that help our residents live stimulating lifestyles is important to us. Our Memory Care programs are intentionally crafted to encourage new, happy memories, and movement. Our residents are full of life, and we seek to celebrate life with them everyday.
An integral part of our Memory Care program, iN2L Person-Centered Engagement Technology applies easy-to-use, stimulating software for recreation, social connection, and memory engagement for our residents who benefit from it. Interactive games and Google Earth-guided tours of their childhood homes create an expanded world from the comfort of their own neighborhoods. iN2L also serves as a footing for more interactive communication with family, friends, and caregivers. Together we can develop a personalized account for your loved one, filled with their favorite activities to aid in their memory care success.
Pet Therapy is another facet of our memory care program, and shows great promise as a beneficial therapy for residents battling the effects of dementia or memory loss. While interacting with trained companion animals, memory care patients are able to develop meaningful connections. The act of caring for and nurturing a pet can stimulate rich memories, while also helping to reduce anxiety and depression. This simple exchange of love often has a calming effect on our residents while creating enjoyable distractions teeming with cuddles and smiles.
Rosewood takes pride in our Music Therapy programs, yet another helpful facet of our memory care efforts. Music therapy can stimulate memories through the use of songs residents recognize and enjoy. The results are truly inspiring! Just like flipping a switch, the use of music often serves as a jumpstart to the cognitive process. We find that music therapy often results in dancing, smiles, happiness, and the kind of life enrichment our loved ones deserve and benefit from.
Quality Memory Care results in fewer hospital visits,
improved appetite, and an overall higher quality of life.
What Makes Rosewood
We always want our residents to feel encouraged and supported, so we work diligently to provide continuous, individualized support as they navigate their days here within our community. We specialize in Memory Care with the most Specialty Care Assisted Living licenses in North Georgia for individuals with all types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s, and we create a tailored approach with which to address the unique needs of each individual in our care. Every resident is different, and we believe that should drive our efforts to serve them best.
At Rosewood, our neighborhoods evoke a feeling of home, safety, cleanliness, and comfort, and we understand how that positively impacts our residents, specifically those in memory care. Consistency, kindness, and reassurance are critical to the success of memory care efforts, and that is exactly what you and your loved one can expect here. We understand that the little things can often make the biggest difference.
SAFETY AND CARE
The safety of our residents is critically important to our team at Rosewood. As such, med reminders administered by nurses and trained caregivers keep your loved ones healthy and reduce the risk of negative drug interactions. Also, chronic conditions such as diabetes or Parkinson’s are monitored and factored into personalized nutritional and exercise programs. Our safety-optimized environment provides an ideal solution for those with mobility issues, as well. We work to ensure that each resident’s needs are well met, and that Rosewood feels like home.
Our Christian values touch everything we do here at Rosewood. Love, service, patience, and respect for others are core values central to our mission as caregivers and as human beings. Our community aims to provide compassionate care for mind, body, and soul, because we know this to be our greatest purpose in Christ. In short, our faith has helped us create an atmosphere of love, and we seek to share that with you.
Being a small provider of senior care allows us to offer what so many others cannot– personalized care. We’re proud to be fully-engrained community members, creating authentic experiences for our residents, and always remaining true to our word.
Our People, Our Heartbeat
Dining matters at Rosewood. We understand that great meals are important for many reasons, nutritional and otherwise. That’s why we ensure that our residents can enjoy three delicious and well-balanced meals daily in our dining room. Each meal is made with fresh ingredients from scratch daily by our culinary team, and residents are able to select from a variety of dining options at each meal time.
Good food gives our bodies energy and also can help control weight, but eating well may also help to prevent some diseases such as osteoporosis, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and even some cancers. We also believe that mealtime is meant to be enjoyed, and we always make that a priority here.
We always look for opportunities to get to know our residents on a personal level, making meaningful connections. This is a necessary step in providing them the best care possible. We work to find out about their favorite things, their families, and their unique lives, and we use personal items and mementos of the past to decorate their entryways and living spaces to help evoke meaningful memories.

Family & Community
Welcoming family members into our community at Rosewood as often as possible is an important aspect of our monthly event calendar, dietary program, and all major holidays.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, much of that activity has been put on hold. With the health and safety of our residents being our primary concern, we also understand engagement and visitation with friends and family is more important now than ever before. We continue to stay on top of local policy, CDC recommendations, and industry protocols to give our residents every opportunity to engage with their loved ones while remaining healthy both mentally and physically. We are hopeful that we may return to our traditional, family-centered events soon.
While the coronavirus pandemic has affected the way we approach visitors, we’re happy to help arrange visits with family and friends in coherence with the guidelines for retirement communities set forth by the local health department to keep everyone safe and healthy during this time.
Communication is key! Sharing what we’ve been up, as well as information about our upcoming events and activities is a huge priority, as we want to ensure our residents and their families have every opportunity to participate. As such, we produce a monthly newsletter with a print edition featuring some classic word games and community news for our residents, as well as a digital newsletter which is sent to family via email.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all, and our Rosewood team has worked hard to follow CDC guidelines and safety measures to keep our residents healthy during this time. Rosewood and the assisted living staff members within our community are committed to communicating with families and residents as updates are made, implementing safety measures that allow
for safe visitation.
Our community has hosted multiple vaccination clinics for our staff and residents, and will continue to make the COVID-19 vaccine available to all residents who wish to receive it.
