September has been a busy month, and now we are ready to kick it into high gear for the approaching holidays. We celebrated National Assisted Living Week with fun themed days like PJ Day, Hat Day (we decorated our own hats to add a personal touch), and Fan Friday during which we wore sports apparel to kick off football season. We planned special events including: Karaoke, A Men’s Prayer Breakfast (which we will be continuing every month now), a “COVID Relay” (residents on two teams raced to put on PPE, find toilet paper hidden around the room, sanitize a table, and bring back the TP to the next resident in line, even our friends in wheelchairs got to participate), and a scavenger hunt. We made cards for our carestaff and other residents to thank them for everything they do. Pathways/Memory Care had a special “Balloon Hockey” event hosted by Kathy from Tapestry as well.

A lot of residents have joined our Breakfast club. This started as a few guys sitting in the hallway and talking, and has turned to half of the 2nd floor talking and visiting with each other. They even help take each other to activities, and share their BINGO Bucks with each other. Fred Tucker has become our new “chauffer” as he
takes his friends out around the town. Fred, if you read this, we appreciate all you do to bring more life to this community!

The Ladies’ Tea was also a huge hit. The Discovery Center looked like a Tea Room with fine linen tablecloths and beautiful floral centerpieces. The ladies looked so pretty and enjoyed the spread. You could even see a few pinkies up as they sipped their tea!

September was a good month overall, and we look forward to October as we approach the holiday season.
